Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) affects over 150,000 people in the United States each year with half of those people dying from this terrible syndrome. Worldwide, the numbers abound. Share your thoughts with us on a more personal level.
At the age of thirty three, my life was changed in ways that I could not imagine. Once a overwhelmed and extremely stressed out attorney, I suddenly found myself critically ill with acute respiratory distress syndrome. The entire summer of 1995, I spent in the hospital, on a vent, fighting for my life. After recoverying, against all odds, my life was forever changed. Now, I work part time and dedicate myself to doing something for others who have had to endrue the life changing affects from ARDS.
"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!"
They finally called to admit me! argh... most of the day is gone. I am very weary of hospitals after all I have been through. I am going to watch them like a hawk
